I LOVE using these informal assessments in my classroom!! The reporoducibles include assessments in: interests & preferences, abilities & skills, career exploration, and job search & securing. These assessments could be used for classroom lessons or "brain boosters" to use at the beginning of the class period. I would reccommend the other 2 books related to Employment and Career Planning: Independent Living and Community Partcipation and Postsecondary Education and Training. These assessments are handy when completing a transition plan.
I have always like the Pro-Ed products. We purchased many of these assessment tools for our Transition Assessment Tool Box. As the Transition Facilitator, teachers check out assessments from the tool box from me. Upon completion I ask them to complete an evaluation form, this particular assessment scored very highly with my teachers from both of the SSD Schools that I serve. The informal assessments number over 60 in this one book, covering several areas of employment and career planning. They are all easy to administer and gives you an abundance of information. This is definitely a keeper.
I really like this informal assessment tool. It is so handy to find just the right one for what you want to find out. They are short and can be given individually or some of them can be given as a group. I sometimes use these assessments as classroom activities. Each of my students have their own Portfolio that they take with them when they leave me. In it are the assessments that they have taken, formal as well as informal. Some of the informal assessments I like in this book are: Connecting to Your Future, Needs Fit, the Interest Survey and the Values Inventory.
I have used these informal assessments on numerous occasions. They are easy to administer and easy for students to understand. These assessments cover a wide variety of employment and career informal assessments. These informal assessments give worthwhile information that the IEP team will need in transition planning. I highly recommend this assessment.
