Introduction
Systems Advocacy & Self-Advocacy
Today we are going to about systems advocacy and self-advocacy.   What we’re not going to talk about is self-advocacy from a curricular or skill-building perspective.

I’m going to try to give you some information about advocacy from a broader perspective because while I think developing self-advocacy skills are important and students must have these skills, I also think you need to understand how to advocate at a systems level. This is the focus of today’s lecture:
disability activism and systems advocacy.
For this session, you will need to have the following items ready:

1. CD-ROM inserted into your disk drive. You will be watching 2 clips:
         a. Ed Roberts.mov
         b. KYLF.mov
2.   You don't need any handouts for this session, but if you want to review the Partners in Policymaking curriculum, you can find this in Bb.
