October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month!

National Disability Employment Awareness Month dates back to 1945, when Congress declared the first week in October “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week.” Now observed for the entire month of October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a diverse workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.

Reflecting the important role disability plays in workforce diversity, this year’s NDEAM theme is “#InclusionWorks.” The theme was developed with input from a range of organizations, and the use of a hashtag is intended to spur individuals and groups to post images and stimulate discussion on social media about the many ways “inclusion works.”
